Less than a couple days ago I wrote an editorial piece saying in essence, we about to get some more background checks or blame based science. Well it looks like our President is in for a penny, in for a pound. Today, he directed his attorney general to propose changes that would ban so-called bump stocks, which make it easier to fire rounds more quickly.
“Just a few moments ago I signed a memo directing the attorney general to propose regulations that ban all devices that turn legal weapons into machine guns. I expect these regulations to be finalized, Jeff, very soon.” Asked on Tuesday whether the President would support steps that would raise the federal age limit for military-style weapons, such as the AR-15, The President’s press secretary said, “I think that’s certainly something that’s on the table for us to discuss and that we expect to come up over the next couple of weeks.”
So the kids got the President to use the “B” word and then act upon it. But is it enough? Since the night of October 1, 2017, when Stephen Paddocka opened fire on a crowd of concertgoers in Las Vegas, Nevada, leaving 58 people dead and 851 injured, over 33,000 people have been killed by a firearm. Yes, the numbers are staggering. That’s just in 4 months. Although life is sacred no matter how many are killed with guns, the fact still remains over 98 percent are killed with non-semi automatic weapons. Most people are killed with handguns. Banning military styled semi automatic weapon and bump stocks is a start. The Constitution is not just about peoples right to own a gun. The first thing it says is:
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
Well I can’t do that if someone’s shot me in my head. I’m not saying we should outlaw guns. I want to get that straight. But unless you got ten hands, you don’t need ten guns. We need the government to take these extra weapons off our streets. You certainly don’t need an assault rifle. You say you need 10 guns to protect your family. Well that’s not what the 2nd Amendment says.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State means an armed force overseen by authority, set up to protect their land and freedom from usurpers. The NRA has twisted the meaning for their own political benefit and for the benefit of those at the top who want to stay in power over the masses. I’m doing a little side tracking, but it burns me up how many people have died because of ignorance or plain wanton.
There have been 85 protest against the President since he taken office. One of the more notable protest have been the January 21, Women’s March last year and again this year. Estimates suggest between 3.3 and 4.6 million people took part in 2017, making it the largest protest in United States history. There is talk of 1 million plus protesters if he goes to the UK this spring. People protest the President for his stand on Immigration, Dakota and Keystone XL pipeline project, an LGBT “dance protest” was held outside the Trump International Hotel in downtown Washington, D.C., with several hundred participants and even employees of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which is a government agency protested against him for proposed budget cuts for their department. But “neva” has he had to face thousands of children in front of the White House and on the Mall, protesting for the right to be able to sit in their schools without being shot. He better ban something. This is the President’s worst nightmare. So in hindsight, I guess I did overlook the enormous power this demographic has to enact change. Our children have did in one week what we have been trying to do for years and you know something? We might just have a chance at a more perfect union.
