Fifth Device Explodes In Austin Texas, At FedEx Facility

A package bomb blew up at a FedEx distribution center near San Antonio on Tuesday, the fifth in a series of attacks that have rocked Texas this month and sent investigators on a frantic search for what they suspect is a serial bomber, focusing on the Austin area. Schertz Police Chief Michael Hansen said that the package blew up while it was on an automated conveyor and that a FedEx worker who was nearby later complained of ringing in the ears. We were very fortunate that there weren’t any other injuries. It was mailed from Austin, and it was mailed back to Austin” going through the FedEx center in Schertz, state Attorney General Ken Paxton told KXAN-TV news. The package that exploded had been addressed to an Austin resident. Officials say the package that exploded may have come from an address on Brodie Lane that houses a FedEx Office printing and shipping office, part of the large Sunset Valley Shopping Center, southwest of downtown Austin. The FBI is currently investigating a confirmed link between packages involved in the Austin bombing investigation and a mail delivery office in Sunset Valley. The series of bombings have unsettled Austin, the state capital of some 1 million people, and drawn hundreds of federal law enforcement investigators to join local police. The White House said there in no link associating the Austin bombing events to terrorism. Monday police arrest Trevor Weldon Ingram, 26 and charged him with making  a terrorist threat for emailing a bomb threat that prompted sponsors to cancel a scheduled concert at Austin’s South by Southwest music festival. However, authorities have ruled him out as the serial bomber. Police Chief Brian Manley said, “We looked into him and we are not thinking he is involved in this. We have run him through the investigative process.” The four previous explosions killed two people and injured four others.
