GoFundMe ???

Every time I think I have seen the lowest a snake can go, somebody proves me wrong. Last month I was reading one of those feel good stories, the kind that brings a tear to your eye and makes you think the world ain’t so bad after all. Newsflash… it’s just as shizzy as we thought it was. Last October Kate McClure ran out of gas on in a dark corner of of New Jersey. Helpless and without a penny to her name, she went straight damsel in distress. Enter Johnny Babbit, a homeless and addicted veteran. McClure’s tears must have somehow washed $20.00 out of the old man’s pocket and he decided to give it to her. Kate was so happy to to get out of dodge, that as soon as she got home and told her old man Mark D’Amico, it was decided they were going to do something for the vet, to show their appreciation. They hit on the idea of a GoFundMe campaign. Well the vet’s seemingly selfless act caught the heart string’s of a whole lot of folks and soon after the fund was started it raised an astounding $400,000.

Now this is where the shizzy part comes in. Kate and Mark spent the money. Thursday, police raided their home and a judge has ordered them to appear in court to explain what happened to the $400,000 they raised online. Bobbitt and McClure are both being represented by attorney’s. Skanky McClure’s attorney asked a judge if the couple could give depositions to Bobbitt’s attorney after Bobbitt is out of treatment. The judge nixed that request and told them to report to court Monday. “Some of the money is already gone, I think the request is ludicrous,” the judge told the bandits. Bobbitt received roughly $75,000 of the funds. He used the money to purchase a camper and SUV, but he has admitted he squandered some of the cash on drugs. He no longer has the camper or SUV. In court, McClure and D’Amico’s attorney said about $200,000 had gone to Bobbitt, but Babbitt’s lawyer said McClure’s lawyer indicated he was lied to by his clients and that later the court learned there was no money left. In a statement, GoFundMe has said the Marine vet will get all of his money. “Our platform is backed by the GoFundMe Guarantee, which means that in the rare case that GoFundMe, law enforcement or a user finds campaigns are misused, donors and beneficiaries are protected.” Bobbitt has now received $20,000 as part of the guarantee, which will be used to get him an apartment and food. The rest of the money will be handed over after GoFundMe conducts an investigation relying on items seized by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and what his attorneys turn over to them. Just to show you the kind of cloth they cut from, the sheriff seized a BMW…
