Seven year old Jazmine Barnes was shot dead as she rode in the back seat of her mothers car. The attack was unprovoked. The assailant was described as a bearded white man in his early to mid forties wearing a red sweatshirt.
Jazmine Barnes, her three sisters and mother, LaPorsha Washington, were driving when an unknown man pulled up alongside them and opened fire. LaPorsha was also shot in the senseless execution. Authorities believe they were targeted at random The rest of us believe they were targeted because they were black.
From her hospital bed, Ms Washington tearfully told a local affiliate, “I gone over this is my head a million times… did I cut this man off? Did I make a wrong turn in front of him? Did I do anything wrong to cause this man to fire shots at my car? I didn’t do anything. He fired off at us for no reason.
It was not fair. He intentionally killed my child for no reason.”
Police and family members have asked for the public’s help as a search continues for a man suspected of shooting a 7-year-old girl to death in Houston. We’re not going to let up,” said Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. They released a still photo from a surveillance video showing the suspect’s vehicle. Earlier this week, author and activist Shaun King announced a reward which he has since raised to $50,000, for information about the suspect’s whereabouts.
Whenever I hear a story about a black child being killed by a white adult, something in me also dies. I understand the hate is real. Some people just hate black folks and want to see our world burn. There is nothing anyone can do about it. But when a spineless, little dick, racist start shooting our children, its gone to another level. With this child’s death, what we may be witnessing is our generation’s Emmit Till, the beginning of our generation’s 16th street Baptist Church.. but we ain’t going to stand for it. We must demand that this white boy be apprehended immediately. You have a description of him and a photograph of his truck. With all the surveillance cameras in Houston, you probably have a good idea exactly where he is at. Pick him up and bring him in, don’t let this get out of hand. You are not dealing with our grandfathers and grandmothers.
Once you pick him up, we want him charged with first degree murder under special circumstances. In addition, we don’t want to hear this ain’t no hate crime. We don’t want to hear it. We don’t want the papers writing about what kind of childhood the murdering bastard had or where he went wrong. We don’t care if he got out a psychiatric hospital last year, he still killed that black baby for nothing. We don’t want to see his mother and father’s picture on any story that that has a picture of the victims family. We don’t want this to go away after a week. If a white child is killed by some deranged psychopath, we want their pictures and stories on the same page. The child killing is got to stop. We don’t want to wait no thirty years. Right after the trial, we want that fire blazing, that kettle smoking and that grease good and hot when you throw him in there. Do this for all our mothers and fathers. Make America Grateful Again.
