Now I Know Why

Kanye West and mental illness or greed.

Like many of you I turn on the TV in the morning and watch the news. I sometimes watch Coyote TV.” Like the old adage goes, ” keep your friends close and your enemies closer. They usually get straight to point, crimes happening in black neighborhoods, police shooting black suspects, what black man will spend the rest of his life in prison and a report on a tough on crime candidate running for national office. You know, your typical far-right, raw meat morning whistle call. After the IRS and NRA commercial, the newscaster came back and played one of the most disgusting live broadcast I have ever seen in a long time. There on Coyote TV, was Kanye West hugging President Trump and telling him I love you. The first thing that came to mind was “that cooning jigaboo!!” It made me want to throw up in my mouff!!

West is a known genius. I’m not feeling his baby’s name, “North West,” but anywho, he is among the most critically acclaimed musicians of the 21st century and one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He has won a total of 21 Grammy Awards, making him one of the most awarded artists of all time and the most Grammy-awarded artist of his generation. Three of his albums have been included and ranked on Rolling Stones 2012 update of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” list and he ties with Bob Dylanfor having topped the annual Pazz & Jop critic poll the most number of times ever, with four number-one albums each. Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2005 and 2015. With that being said… what the fudge happened?

A lot of people including me say his mental break down began with his mother death. On November 10, 2007, West’s mother Donda West died at age 58. In January 2008 the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said that West had died of coronary artery disease and multiple post-operative factors from, or as a consequence of, liposuction and mammoplasty” It was Kanye who allegedly paid for the liposuction and mammoplasty surgery. I guess he felt some kinda way. I know how you feel man. Losing Mama ain’t no joke. It will break you down.

On November 20, 2016, soon before abruptly ending a concert prematurely, he said, “Jay-Z—call me, bruh. You still ain’t called me. Jay-Z, I know you got killers. Please don’t send them at my head. Please call me. Talk to me like a man.”The following day, he was committed to the UCLA Medical Center with hallucinations and paranoia. West’s mental state was abnormal enough for his 21 cancelled concerts to be covered by his insurance policy, he was reportedly paranoid and depressed throughout the hospitalization, but remains formally undiagnosed. In an interview in 2018, West declared that he became addicted to opioids when they were prescribed to him after he got liposuction. The addiction contributed to his nervous breakdown in 2016. On the album Ye, West implied that he had bipolar disorder and compared it to a “superpower. West stated that he was diagnosed with a “mental condition” at age 39 and thinks about “killing myself all the time.”

It has been estimated that one in four people in the world suffers from some type of mental illness and that bi-polar disease affects about 1.2 million people worldwide. Some notable artist who have been affected with mental illness include Vincent van Gogh, who has been said to have suffered from depression (perhaps manic depression), bipolar disorder, hallucinations and episodes of derangement as well as epilepsy. He ultimately committed suicide in 1890 at the age of 37. Ludwig van Beethoven, who is reported to have suffered from depression, bipolar disorder and alcoholism and J. Cole, who learned when he was battling depression while recording his album, Born Sinner. While preparing his sophomore album, he was silently living in a “dark place.” The shizz is real. Here is some more about J Cole and some other artist fighting mental illness.

You and your stank models.

But in the mean time, I’ma take a shot anyway, because mentally ill or not it hurt us. “Negro please, we thought they had “Cosbyed” you and dropped that Contrari in yo watta.
