Child Beaten To Death Over A Cupcake

LaShirley Morris, 27, and her sister, Glenndria Morris, 25, are both charged with the murder of Kejuan “King” Mason.  The two sister alleged motive? The 3 year old ate one of the cupcakes the sisters had made for themselves. Paramedics found the child unresponsive after being called to the home. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Originally the sisters told authorities the child had choked on the cupcake. The Fulton County Medical Examiner had another caused, the child had been severely beaten and died from blunt force trauma. Geraldine Mason, the child’s mother knew there was something wrong.

“He choked on a cupcake? I knew right then it wasn’t right, I had a feeling, a mother has that feeling that something was wrong.” One of the accused, Glenndria Morris had custody of Kejuan and his brother Kerry because their mother did not have a place to live. The mother said she had lost custody, but was working to get them back. According to Glenndra Landrina, said she gave the kids cupcakes to eat and said Kejuan “appeared to be choking on a cupcake.” Landrina said she and a man named Hurbert Morris attempted CPR when  the paramedics took too long to arrive. They removed the cupcake and said he was fine breathing and talking later. They check on the little guy later after he went to sleep, but found him unresponsive and called for help. Xavier Upshaw, the child’s grandmother had a few choice words for the perpetrators, “He was just a baby, he was so sweet and loving. We want justice, we’re not going to go to sleep on this.”
