Fire Up Old Sparky!!

That’s right I said it!! Bring it out, plug it in, set his ass on it and turn it on!! Now we have talked about Texas before a couple weeks ago, when I asked for mercy for the black folks seeking peace through forgiveness. A lot of my readers tore me a new one for that sentiment. For the record, I still stand by them. But like I said in the piece, most of us are warriors. I wanted ten toes down dirty, a cheap shovel from Walmart, some Jack Daniel’s and a tape recorder playing a hour long mixtape of “I Ain’t Mad At Cha.”

Bouquets of flowers and stuffed animals are piling up outside the Fort Worth home Monday, Oct. 14, 2019, where a 28-year-old black woman was shot to death by a white police officer.

Atatiana Koquice Jefferson was shot dead by Fort Worth police early Saturday morning in a botched wellness check. Now I’m going to throw the racist card out there because that’s what it is. What kind of wellness check sends out a silent patrol which parks blocks away and then deploys police officers with flashlights and drawn weapons, creeping around in the dark in your yard. A wellness check is when you go to the front door, knock and ask if everything alright or is that only on TV or in certain neighborhoods.

Fort Worth, Texas has to be very careful with this one. This is the kind of #@@!$ that cities get burned down for. The police have already introduced a blurry body camera video that shows police sneaking around in the dark with flashlights. Although they say a gun was reportedly found in the home, they do not say if someone displayed it. Now I’m going to tell you something. If it was my house and I notice someone shining a light through my window at two in the morning, I’m gonna do more than display it. That means absolutely nothing… diddly.. even if she did display a gun. You were on her property without a warrant or probable cause that a crime was being committed. You came there for a wellness check.

“Put your hands up! Show me your hands!” Who me or are you talking to someone else in my backyard? I turn toward the window… Bam!! I’m dead. “Put your hands up! Show me your hands!” I look at my eight year old nephew and rush to get him to safety… Bam!! I’m dead. “Put your hands up! Show me your hands!” What’s going on outside? I head toward the front door to see. Bam!! I’m dead. “Put your hands up! Show me your hands!” I’m not doing anything. I get up to go to the front door to close it. Bam!! I’m dead. This @!## is screwed up on so many levels.

We all remember last week when Botham Jean’s brother hugged Amber Guyer and said he forgave her. Hell even the judge hugged her. Well that’s not going to happen this time. Jefferson’s father reportedly said that’s not something he’s prepared to do. “I don’t want no hug. That’s my one and only daughter. I’ll never forget that.” That’s right, we all want to see rusty bars, a shitty ass mattress, a stainless steel toilet with a half roll of toilet paper on the floor and strong big black men standing in the hallway in front of the cell waiting for you. We know the laws and expect them to be enforced to the fullest extent. We will not stand for a black person being shot by the police through a curtained window in the dark under color of authority. You ain’t the only ones with Tiki Torches.

It is with deep remorse that Hill1News has to add Atatiana Koquice Jefferson to the list of black men and women gunned down in the streets of “the land of the free and the home of the brave” and isn’t ironic that those are the words of Francis Scott Key, the man who wrote the racist lyrics to our national anthem. In remembrance to the fallen:

  • Dontre Hamilton
  • Eric Garner
  • John Crawford
  • Michael Brown
  • Ezell Ford
  • Dante Parker
  • Tanisha Anderson
  • Akai Gurley
  • Tamir Rice
  • Rumain Brisbon
  • Jerame Reid
  • Tony Robinson
  • Phillip White
  • Eric Harris
  • Walter Scott
  • Freddie Gray
  • Laquan McDonald
  • Sandra Bland
  • Samuel DuBose
  • Philando Castile
  • Terence Crutcher
  • Oscar Grant
  • Atatiana Koquice Jefferson

That list is by no means complete and it is with deep regret Hill1News can’t display them all. Death at the hands of the police is now a leading cause of death for young black men. About 1 in 1,000 black men and boys in America can expect to die at the hands of police. That’s saying something! Black men and young black boys have a better chance of being born with eleven fingers and toes than than living without being shot by the police. Folks we are rapidly approaching a country under siege by police and white nationalist. Countries from all across the globe have issued travel advisories concerning coming to the states because of police and white nationalist violence. There is clearly a problem and everyone see it. We will be staying with this story until the end. With regards to the list of the fallen, you can see their stories by clicking on the reference links below. Most of them are under Buzzfeed.
