Get Me Some Lotion, My Hands Are Dry

Scott Pruitt at Congressional hearing

It seems Scott Pruitt can do no wrong. Pruitt is head of the Environmental Protection Agency and is currently under several congressional investigations concerning how he is spending taxpayer dough. The latest investigation is about why he sent his security detail out to get him some moisturizing lotion. You figure if he sent 4 guys out to get him a bottle of moisturizing lotion, and each person was making at least $75,000 a year, and it took them one hour to get it, then he spent $144.00 in salary plus the cost of the lotion, which was $27.00. Whose to say they didn’t take them 3 hours to get it? Anywho, its more than lotion congress is talking about. He has asked his security detail to run other errands according to reports like, “go get my laundry, find me an apartment, see if you can get me a used mattress from the Trump hotel and text me because I will be in my $43,000 sound proof bubble I bought for my office. If I don’t answer, I might be flying to a meeting in first class or if the snowflakes keep complaining, I might have to grab a plane from the military to give my speech on why climate change is fake science.”

So why doesn’t the President fire him? The protective detail alone cost taxpayers nearly $3.5 million during Pruitt’s first year on the job and is roughly triple the size of those of his immediate predecessors. That’s a million dollar question. However there are sources that have put some theories out there. Currently, the thinking is he is a major force for the fracking industry. Fracking is the process of injecting liquid at high pressure into subterranean rocks, boreholes, etc., so as to force open existing fissures and extract oil or gas. Guess what legislation just passed in Congress after 2 previous administrations refused it. S.334,  “To clarify that a State has the sole authority to regulate hydraulic fracturing on Federal land within the boundaries of the State.”  That’s right, it in the states hands no to determine if fracking can be done on federal land within that state. And guess where all the fracking is going on.. no I mean it. In states controlled by Republicans or Conservative Democrats which have they hands deep in the pockets of the oil and gas and coal industries. Lets get back to Mr Pruitt. Did you know when he was attorney general for Oklahoma, that state went from having 2 earthquakes a year to having 2 a day, due to fracking. In 2015, it endured 857 earthquakes with a magnitude of 3.0 or higher, more than struck the rest of the lower 48 states combined. According to the Atlantic, “These tremors are not naturally occurring. They are caused by wastewater injection, a process in which million of gallons of salty water are pumped deep underground. This water is often a by-product of fracking, the natural-gas mining process that has spread across the country.” Now we know that Attorney General’s do not make a states environmental laws, but we do know that they are there to protect it citizens. AG in other states have used laws on the books to prevent the sometimes devastating ecological effects of fracking. But not Mr Pruitt. There was even a report that he sued the EPA to block it from enforcing rules against regional smog and airborne mercury pollution and at one point, he copy-and-pasted a letter from an oil company onto official state letterhead, added his signature, and mailed it to the agency he he now runs.

So why won’t the President fire him? Your guess is as good as mine. When Russia and North Korea are now friends and Canada and Mexico are now enemies, I guess we are all starting to question our lying eyes.
