Lucasville Correctional Facility

At the end of this report I am going to show you a most disturbing and brutal video. I want you to be prepared.

On June 4th 2017, four black inmates were brutally attacked by another inmate wielding a seven inch homemade knife. The attacker who is white, is seen stabbing the four inmates repeatedly while they were handcuffed to a table. The attack happened at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, in Lucasville, Ohio.

The four inmates had been playing cards during recreation outside of their cells, when convicted murderer Greg Reinke – shackled only by his feet – suddenly springs up from the table behind them. In the video you can see blood splatter on the walls as the psychotic madman relentlessly stabs the the hapless victims as they try to escape his onslaught. Reinke is serving a life sentence without parole for a shooting in Cleveland, the killing of his cellmate and in an attack in which he and another inmate stab a guard 32 times.

Fortunately one of the victims was able to escape his handcuffs and defend the rest from the attack. Authorities say that approximately one minute passes before the guards notice the brazen attack and rush in. Shamieke Pugh, one of the inmates shackled to the table, believes the guards set them up. Investigators say they haven’t identified a specific motive behind the attack, and say there is no evidence of it being racially aggravated. However it’s been noted that the incidents of inmate on inmate crime in the prison is relatively high due to the number of incarcerated individuals with gang ties.

Now that’s the general story, here is the minutiae. After the attack on the four inmates, the authorities were not not going to press charges. They reasoned it would not mean anything since he was already serving a life sentence. It was not until the guard attack, that charges were brought against Reinke and his accomplice, that the inmate attack came to light.
Reinke has been charged for both assaults and pleaded not guilty. According to some reports, when Reinke was first questioned he said, ” I just felt like killing someone’ that day.”

The then newly appointed Scioto County prosecutor Shane Tieman said,
“The inmates who were stabbed, though offenders themselves, deserve justice. These victims deserve their day in court also to say, “This was done to me,” and for us to stand up and say “It’s not right, what has been done to these you.” Yada, yada yada. After the attack, Lucasville ended the practice of shackling multiple inmates seated at a table. Reinke and his accomplice in the guard stabbing incident have been moved to Supermax. No guards involved with the incident have been disciplined. Black Lives Matter of Greater Atlanta has planned a march to demand justice at the facility. They have set up a donation page and have raised close to $5000. as of the time of this report.
