Not For My Money

Last year hundreds of protesters gathered on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn to demand that a racist nail salon owner and her den be shut down. In addition they encourage African Americans to stop giving their money to people who come into their neighborhood to attack and disrespect their citizens. In the Brooklyn case a grandmother and her two grandkids were beaten with a broom stick and had acetone thrown on them over a payment dispute. The video of the attack went viral and you can see it here. The AsAm (Asian American) News quickly reported a statement from John Chan, president of Asian American Community Empowerment, which in part said, “This episode involved only one store in an area where relations between Chinese Americans and African Americans have largely been harmonious. It has nothing to do with race. We don’t see the action of individuals to be representative of an entire population.” He and other community members cautioned people not to make broad strokes assumptions about an entire community based on this one incident.

Well John if you Google ” Asian Salon Attack,” you will get tons of incidents of Asian salon owners attacking black women. So this is not based on no one @!## incident. The video in this article happened in Chicago a few days ago. Half of the attacks are probably never reported. Now, I want you to Google “Asian attacks Black man.” See what I am talking about.. nada, nope, ain’t gonna happen. Asian racist are the worst, because they come into our community with their stank noodles and nasty fake nails thinking they better than us. You rob us blind, talk about us behind our back and beat our women and children over a few dollars. Its despicable. In the incident above the black women allegedly walked out without paying. She was wrong if that’s the case. But that doesn’t mean you take the law into your own hands. Don’t you know what 911 is for. Or is it you rather beat some black women down to make an example for the rest of the colored’s to see.

Why Black-Owned Nail Salons Say The Asian Community Isn’t Their Competition – Madamenoire

Asian’s are not the reason that black nail salon owners are concerned over. They need black people to take their business to them. A lot of black owned salons opened because the quality of service given by the Asian salon owners was sub par. They pack the room with people like they are in a zoo and wear gloves so they don’t have to touch you. Often they perform the services with unclean equipment and if that’s not enough you’re sitting across from them while they wear a protective mask and you breath in the their poisonous fumes for an hour. Asian salons don’t have vents because they don’t care about nothing but the dollars in your purse and how fast they can get them. That’s why they set up quick nail service salons in black communities. It’s not meant to be a quality experience.

“I survive because the Asian dominated nail salon scene is not my competition. Their clientele is not my market. My customer does not want to frequent that kind of salon and understands the difference in service, quality, and experience. My customers are in touch with their Black heritage and want the Black community, on the whole, to do better. They are very supportive of Black businesses as a whole. Most of them specifically will only go to Black-owned nail shops or Black nail techs. She or he is a researched buyer. They have thoroughly researched the shop and are looking for the superior services that we offer. Yet it has been a challenge for the market to realize that yes, Black women do nails, too. “I do come across people who don’t know Black women do nails.” MN

Black women do nail too.. I couldn’t have said it better.
