Senator Rubio Under Hot Fire

Senator Marco Rubio (R) Florida

“I respect their views and recognize that many Americans support certain gun bans. However, many other Americans do not support a gun ban. They too want to prevent mass shootings, but view banning guns as an infringement on the Second Amendment rights of law abiding citizens that ultimately will not prevent these tragedies.”

Senator Marco Rubio

Red hot fire is what the senator faced, after making this statement while tens of thousands were still in the streets of the nation’s capitol protesting the deaths of dozens of school age children who were murdered by assailants wielding automatic military style weapons, some capable of firing 400 rounds per minute. Rubio’s characterization of the march as a demand for a “gun ban” drew out a particularly strong reaction from online. Twitter user Alyssa Marie wrote. “Instead of fostering a healthy discussion you are cowering behind a cheap deflection tactics. I hope to God I’m not living in Florida in 2022, but I WILL dedicate time and money to outing you as a senator.” I kinda agree with Kevin Singer, a democratic consultant, who said, “Translated Rubio means, “I do not care about you. I do not care about your schools. I will never take any action to protect you. Please vote me out of office.” In a special message sent from the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School to Senator Rubio, each student had an orange tag around his or her neck. The tag read “$1.05.” The total amount of money the senator got from the NRA divided by all the students in Florida. An estimated five hundred thousand people participated in the March for Life protest in Washington DC., with the number reaching into the millions worldwide. Like Dan Ozzi says, “Was having teens own you on national television not humiliating enough?”
