Why Did You Do That?

Remember the fight between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko? A group of guys in the UK got together to watch the fight on Sky Box Office pay-per-view at Craig Foster’s home. Everything was going well, you know how it is, folks commenting on the fight, throwing back a few, sitting around just having a good time. Well one fried tough it would be a good idea to broadcast the fight on his buddy’s Ipad using Facebook Live. Not such a good idea. Originally it was thought that Foster was sent a bill for $115,000, seeing that the company reported over 4200 people watched the illegal broadcast. They tracked the broadcast with a watermark that was imbeded in their stream. Well that’s  $26.99 times 4250. However its been learned that the company did not charge the poor fellow. Instead they sent him a bill for $6700 to cover the legal cost. Neil Parkes, a partner at Foot Anstey LLP, Sky’s law firm, said, “Mr Foster broke the law and illegally shared copyright protected content with thousands of people online. He has since acknowledged his wrongdoing, apologized for his actions and signed a legal agreement in which he agrees to pay a sum of $6700 to Sky.” As for Mr Foster he says,”They’re demanding the names and addresses of all my mates who were round that night but I’m not going to give them up. I said I’d take the rap. They’re making an example of me. I know streaming the fight was wrong. I didn’t stop my friend but I was watching the boxing. I’m just a bloke who had a few drinks with his friends.”
