$1 Million Bail For Dariaz Higgins

This is an update on the baby killing of Noelani Robinson. Two year old Noelani’s body was found last Friday by the side of the road in a filthy blanket the killer had in his trunk. Dariaz Higgins has been charged with her killing. Earlier the same day Higgins allegedly killed the child, he also allegedly killed the mother and wounded another woman. There had been an intensive manhunt for Higgins, who was eventually caught but decline to give the child’s whereabouts. The police issued an Amber Alert, however it was two late. During Noelani’s disappearance, authorities had begged the kidnapper and murderer to release her unharmed. “We are asking Mr. Higgins to take her and drop her off someplace safe – a family member’s house, a fire station, a hospital, any place safe – so that law enforcement can take custody of her.” After finding Noelani’s body, the police theorized that she had already been killed when they issued that plea. A passerby noticed a nasty blanket in a snowy ditch Friday evening and thought it looked unusual, leading him to call Blooming Prairie Police. Officers discovered the missing toddler wrapped in the blanket, and it appeared she had been there for at least a couple of days.

A woman police say was traveling with Dariaz Higgins when he dumped the body of his 2-year-old daughter on the side of the highway in a filthy blanket, has been charged with aiding and abetting a wanted felon. According to Deloise Lipsey, he said he was getting rid of trash. She said she had no idea he was throwing the body of his two year old daughter on the side of the road. Now this “lady,” rode around with the wanted felon for four days and knew he was wanted in connection with killing Noelani’s mother. She never tried to contact the authorities about his location. She is out on a signature bond and has to report to a parole officer until the next court hearing on April 1st.

Higgins appeared in court last Sunday on charges including first-degree intentional homicide. His bail was set at $1 million. They have not charged him with Noelani’s killing yet. Authorities say that after Higgin’s capture, he repeatedly lied to throw them off the scent of her whereabouts. Milwaukee police Chief Alfonso Morales,” Dariaz Higgins, had been providing police with information on the whereabouts of his daughter, but that it all had proven to be untrue.” Intentional homicide is considered a Class A felony in Wisconsin. If you are convicted under the charge of first-degree intentional homicide, then you will receive a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment. I looked up how much time a life sentence is in Wisconsin and here is what I found. “If convicted, the minimum penalty is sixty years in a state prison for second degree intentional homicide, and life imprisonment for first degree intentional homicide. I guess first degree is all the cookies. I really did not want to see anything about 25 years.

Capital punishment in Wisconsin was abolished in 1853. Wisconsin was one of the earliest United States states to abolish the death penalty, and is the only state that has performed only one execution in its history.
